OR
The reality is that 2G and 3G networks are being shutdown in favour of 4G and 5G networks. Although exact dates have not been confirmed, the current information on hand says 3G will be disconnected in March 2023 while 2G will be around till 2025.
Currently if a base station stops working, 2G modules are not replaced. Although they aren’t currently switching off any 2G base stations, they are also not replacing old ones when they break, as a result the 2G network is slowly shrinking. This shrinkage will pick up rapidly in 2023 as 5G modules are installed to replace 2G modules.
VERY IMPORTANT Please ensure the setup on the device has been saved to your local PC before shipping the unit/s to us at Polygon Technologies. When we ship the unit back to you it wil arrive back with a blank setup and you will need to read the setup into the software and save it back to the device. We will try our best to keep your setup in tact during the upgrade process but we can’t guarantee anything.
WARRANTY
Polygon technologies will ensure your devices only goes back to you after a full 50 point quality control test has taken place and the device was tested.
We will then offer you a 12 month warranty on the new GSM module that was placed inside the device.
COURIER FEES:
Polygon Technologies can only ship the unit back to you if you have selected courier fees and supplied your address during the checkout procedure, we can not offer our courier to collect from you.
It is the clients responsibility to ensure the device is at Polygon Technologies at least 1 working day before the chosen upgrade time slot/s.
What device can be upgraded?
Polygon Technologies has had the same hardware design for the GSM Commander since 2012, this allows us to offer upgrades on all of the GSM Commanders in the field since 2012. We will not be able to upgrade devices older than 2012 due to incompatibility in hardware designs.
How to tell how old my GSM Commander is and what model number?
The easiest method will be to read your serial number, the first 2 x digits of the serial number is the year the device was manufactured, and the following 4 digits is the model number eg. SN: 110321-XXXXX – this unit was manufactured in 11 (2011) and was a GC0321 (0321).
If you do not have direct access to the device, then send it a SMS that says, “TEST GSMC”, if it has airtime it will respond back to any number in the world that requests this general status of the device, the SMS will look like below, and you are after the SN number:
17/10/2022-09:05:10
Sig=100% AT=109
FW=7.52
SN=220321-40016
PWR=On BT=13.5V
A=0 T=2,2
IN1,2=0,1
OUT1,2=1,0
Functionality No Longer Offered:
All 4G upgrades will have issues with receiving voice calls, so if your GSM Commander makes use of dropped calls to perform actions, then keep this in mind as you will need to change your setup/s to trigger on SMSes. This is a network limitation and outside of the control of Plygon Technologies, we trust they resolve this matter in due course.
All GC1281s purchased before XXX 20XX supported dual sim card functionality, this feature is no longer supported with our current 4G firmware, so please keep this in mind as your GC1281 will not come back to you with 2 x sim slots and it will not have the dual sim functionality.
Will My Sim Card Still Work?
You or your client may need to upgrade their sim card to an LTE enabled sim, as old sim cards do not work on the 4G network.
Faulty Units:
Polygon Technologies will first run a quality control test on your unit/s before performing the upgrade, if we find the unit to be faulty we will first address this matter with you directly before proceeding with any upgrades.
